Hypnopumpkins are a weird alien parasitic species that reminds of jack o' lanterns. they move around by floating. if they detect a suitable host, they attempt to land on their head and force the victim's head through the hole on the bottom of the pumpkin. if successfully attaching to a host, they gain access to the host's nervous system below neck. while the host loses the control over their body from pretty much anywhere not inside the pumpkin, they can still feel touch/pain on uncontrollable areas, breathe normally, think and talk.

the hypnopumpkins don't know how to walk properly, resulting in slow and clumsy movements, not too different from a zombie. the magical connection between host forms some heat, so the pumpkins attempt to remove some of their host's clothing to prevent the body from dying to heat paralysis (not necessary on cold weather).

while attached to a host, they start producing seeds. the seeds sprout relatively fast if certain conditions are met or if the host is strong. while young pumpkin looks identical to the mature ones, the difference between adult and baby is that only mature ones can fly around. the pumpkins mature faster if attached to a host, so mature pumpkins attempt to use their controlled bodies to capture new hosts to place the baby pumpkin on manually
